Last class of Spring Semester at Chukyo

July 19th, 2011

So, today we had our last class for the spring semester at Chukyo University at the Yagoto Campus.

I have several great groups this year, and I’m having a good time working with them all.

Sadly, there are a couple of students who won’t be returning for the fall semester because they will be traveling to Canada for a semester of studying abroad.

Today before we finished up we decided to take a couple of pictures and I promised to post them here for everyone to see.

Wow, is my head shiny! I swear I have more hair than that. Not much, but still… sheeesh 😉

Getting Ready for Summer Break

July 7th, 2011

So, it is now officially hot, already.

We still have several weeks of class left. That’s not so good with the heat and the emphasis in Japan on trying to save electricity due to the shortage caused by the earthquake and aftermath.

I finally gave up and lost the dress shirt, tie, and jacket. I just can’t take the heat any more. Last week I was so hot and had a headache all day through every class, so this week I gave in and switched to a pullover polo shirt.

Everyone is shocked. 😉 I always wear a tie and jacket (although the jacket goes first thing when I hit the classroom).

Anyway, summer break is only a few weeks away, so hang in there everybody!

Disappointed in the Lakers

May 5th, 2011

So, I’m not a big sports fan, but I enjoy watching when I can. It’s time for the NBA playoffs now so I have been watching, mostly reading, about the games and teams.

I have been a long time Lakers fan, and I have been holding out hope that the Lakers had a chance to win their 3rd title in a row this year.

Now that’s looking like it is going to be really difficult since they are down 2 games to zero to the Dallas Mavericks.

I like the Mavericks, by the way, and said before the season ended that if it is not the Lakers coming out from the West that I really hope it is the Mavericks.

Of course, if it is the Mavericks, and then the Heat survive in the East… there could be a very, very interesting matchup, a rematch then, for the NBA finals.

Captain America is safe, for now

May 5th, 2011

The boys have been having Captain America fits since seeing an Avengers movie and hearing about the new Captain America movie coming.

This morning they decided to play Captain America, sort of…

A May Morning at My House

May 5th, 2011

So we’re enjoying our break time. The weather has been great and very cooperative. We’ve been able to enjoy ourselves outside quite a bit and it hasn’t been too hot or too cold. Just about right.

We’ve been inside a bunch, too, but these days even in the early morning it’s been pretty nice outside.

Yesterday morning the boys decided to do a little painting (not unusual) and were able to go outside.

Now, they’re not Rembrandt’s, but they enjoy smearing some colors around as much as the next person.

Here are a couple of pictures of them to give you an idea. This is on our deck in our garden.
